The Second Regular Board Meeting Realized

TUMIKOM BOARD OF DIRECTORS ACTIVITY REPORT The activities that have been realized since the First Regular Congress of TUMIKOM, on 26 June 2005 to 13 June 2008, as listed below; TUMIKOM has provided new perspectives to Turkish democracy by its activities and its reports. TUMIKOM's broken a new ground in Turkish political life by its monitoring reports about parliament and parliamentarians. With regular monitoring reports about all the parliamentarians in TBMM published every legislative year TUMIKOM created a tradition and certain expectation from the society. TUMIKOM published four monitoring reports until now. TUMIKOM announced its assessments about any entanglement in front of Turkish democracy in terms of transparency, political ethic and democratizations in general and how to overcome the problems by publishing them in the public. Besides, by publishing the "Ten Promises Report" about the promises are given by the parties, before the election 22 July 2008, TUMIKOM has also created a new tradition. TUMIKOM's activities and it reports had a place in the national media. It is seen that, various journalist and television programmer used the report, announced on TUMIKOM web site and in general TUMIKOM reports are seen as trustful sources. During the general election on 22 July 2008, TUMIKOM reports have also used as trustful sources and quoted from our web site. TUMIKOM and its local representatives were in the various TV programme as a guest and presented its work on the national and local level. In various meetings TUMIKOM explained its ideas and solutions for Turkish democracy. Web site is published in English as well as in Turkish. Up until now members of TUMIKOM have had a connection by e-mail and system works very efficiently. Local voters and the media informed about TUMIKOM's work with the meetings, organized in provinces where TUMIKOM's volunteer representatives are located. Altogether TUMIKOM organized 15 meetings in those provinces. Training are given for capacity development of the local representatives. Two of Turkey Summit realized with the participation of province representatives and it is evaluated by all the participants. But after training and the Summit, local work is not developed as it is expected. Because of that, the work is mostly centralized. The local provinces need to be capitalized with the projects and at the same time information needs to distributed from the local as well as the centre. For this to be realized, TUMIKOM developed a new project, with this project voters and MPs would come together for finding solutions for local problems. TUMIKOM has found donation for producing its monitoring report, and continues its local as well as notional work and the web site has been set up. TUMIKOM's representatives raised up from 32 provinces to 42 provinces and 46 electoral district. The monitored MPs are also raised from 320 to 384. TUMIKOM is reaching its target of having 81 representatives in the 81 provinces, day by day. For international work, TUMIKOM met different activist from different countries and initiated to form a Global Voters Movement (GVI), as it is going to be the first in the world. To set up the "Voters Day" in the world is a distant target for TUMIKOM. At the moment, 5th National Report preparations is going on at the centre office.
